Carbon driver in Lehigh crash

Published February 20. 2012 05:02PM

A Carbon County driver was involved in a three vehicle, rear-end type, crash in which one driver was cited. State police at Fogelsville said the accident occurred about 2:56 p.m., on Feb. 17, at the on-ramp of the northeast extension of the turnpike, off Interstate 78, in Upper Macungie Township.

Troopers said Carl Mercincavage, 55, of Plains, Luzerne County, and James M. Gauriloff, 58, of Lehighton, were stopped on the on-ramp while Ronald S. Beverly, 22, of North Wales, Montgomery County, was eastbound on 78 and entering the on-ramp.

The front of his Nisan Maxima struck the rear of Mercincavage's Mazda 3 pushing it into Gauriloff's GMC Canyon.

Gauriloff was injured but did not require immediate medical attention, troopers said. Troopers cited Beverly for driving too fast for conditions.
