Crashes probed in Schuylkill
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on three crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways, all occurring on Monday, Feb. 13.
A two-vehicle crash occurred about 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of state routes 209 and 901 in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Jayeshkumar Patel, 31, of Philadelphia, was westbound on 209 (Pottsville/Minersville Highway), operating a 2002 Toyota Corolla in the left turn lane and attempting to make a left turn onto 901. George Paul, 56, of Minersville, driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota, was eastbound in the right lane of 209 when Patel turned into his path. The passenger side front of the Dakota struck the passenger side rear of the Corolla.
Patel and his passenger, Jyotikaben Patel, 29, of Upper Darby; a 2-year-old female in a rear safety seat; and Paul, were all not injured. Damages were disabling to the Corolla and moderate to the Dakota.
The second crash occurred about 12:20 p.m. along Trumbo Road, a half-mile north of SR443, in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Aaron Michael Williams, 20, of Pine Grove, was southbound when his 1998 Ford Escort traveled across both lanes and struck an embankment on the west berm. The Escort traveled along the embankment until it rolled over back onto the road. It then skidded to a stop on its roof.
Williams and his passenger, Kaley Lynn Seivard, 18, of Pine Grove, sustained minor injuries. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
The third crash occurred about 4:40 p.m. along SR209 (East Grand Avenue), at North Keystone Street, in Porter Township. Troopers said Randy D. Hentz, 58, of Tower City, driving a 2006 Ford F150 truck, and Carol L. Nolen, 45, also of Tower City, driving a 2004 Ford Explorer, were both southbound. A vehicle stopped to turn onto North Keystone Street, causing Nolen to stop suddenly. Hentz failed to stop and his vehicle hit the rear of Nolen's vehicle.
No one was injured. Damages were disabling to the Ford F150 and moderate to the Explorer.
