Tamaqua police nab wanted man

Published February 15. 2012 05:01PM

Tamaqua police executed a search warrant Saturday afternoon, Feb. 11, taking Carl Francis Rex, 37, into custody at the home of Kimberly Ann Hill, 47, of 35 E. Vine St.

Officers had observed Rex at the home earlier that morning suspecting he had a warrant issued for his arrest. After checking with the Schuylkill County Communications Center officers learned there were two warrants from the county detective's office for Rex.

When the officers returned to Hill's home at 11:10 a.m. Hill maintained that Rex was not present, but had left a short time earlier. A tip from neighbors had officers returning to Hill's home shortly after noon. They forcibly entered the residence when Hill refused them entry. Rex was discovered in a cedar chest hiding under several blankets and pillows.

He was taken into custody and transported to the county prison in Pottsville.

Hill also faces charges in the incident including hindering law enforcement in the apprehension of a criminal.
