Serious injuries in crash early today

A Schuylkill County driver sustained serious injuries early today in a two-vehicle crash. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 5:32 a.m. along SR901 east of Deep Creek Road, in Barry Township.

Troopers said William R. Wagner, 37, of Hegins, was driving a 1995 Ford Ranger pickup truck eastbound when it traveled off the right side of the road. While attempting to get back otno the road Wagner lost control of the truck.

The Ford traveled into the westbound lane and struck the passenger side of a 2010 Chevrolet Sliverado pickup truck driven by Joseph T. Maley, 56, of Pottsville.

Troopers said Wagner sustained serious injuries and was flown by Lifeflight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Maley suffered moderate injuries, troopers said, and was taken by ambulance to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville.
