District seeking bids to upgrade restrooms

Published February 06. 2012 05:03PM

At long last, Palmerton Area High School's authentic restrooms will receive a makeover.

The school district will accept bids for complete renovations to a set of the school's restrooms until 10 a.m. March 7.

Demolition, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and finishes are among the renovations the work will entail to the restrooms, which are original to the building.

Contacted this morning, Superintendent Carol Boyce told the TIMES NEWS both the men's and women's restrooms in the main hallway will be made handicapped accessible.

Boyce said the project - of which she declined to specify a potential cost for - will be paid for from out of the district's $5 million bond that the previous board agreed to borrow last fall.

She said the project should be done over the summer, and ready for the start of the 2012-13 school year.

A prebid meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 16, at the project site. All prospective bidders are encouraged to attend.
