Woman picked up on warrant

Published February 02. 2012 05:01PM

Tamaqua police picked up a local woman on Saturday, Jan. 28, wanted on an arrest warrant issued by Lehigh County Adult Probation.

Off duty patrolman Matthew Houser was driving through Tamaqua at 5:08 p.m. and observed Lorna J. Young, 46, entering her last known address, 44 Mauch Chunk St.

Houser called Patrolman Karl Harig to report seeing Young. Harig went to the scene and the two officers secured the building, then discovered Young hiding under a comforter in a bedroom in one of the apartments.

Young had changed her hair color and initially told Harig that her name was Larissa. She finally admitted her identity and was taken into custody.

Young waived extradition proceedings and was transported to the Lehigh County Jail, where she was incarcerated.
