Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Jan. 24 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 41 members in attendance.

Vice President Rhoda Purnell conducted the business meeting. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Shirley Becker. A get well card was sent to Melody Weicker. One new member, Joyce Krell, was welcomed to the group.

Birthday wishes were extended to Edna Fegley, Doris Yeager and Gloria McHale. Jane Springer is reportedly in the Hometown Nursing Center.

Readings were offered by Florina Martin and Shirley Becker.

The group meets the second and fourth Monday of every month. Anyone 50 or older is welcome to join.

Polar plunge

Ryan Leckey from WNEP's Newswatch 16 This Morning, will make an appearance on behalf of the local Make A Wish Foundation's Polar Plunge. Leckey will broadcast from Deer Lake on Feb. 24, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The Polar Plunge will then take place on Feb. 25, at noon, in the sure to be frigid waters of Deer Lake.

All proceeds from the event will be used to make wishes come true for some very special children.

Women of the Bible

One of the small group study sessions being offered at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church is based on the lives of women mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible. Ordinary people, most would not make headlines in any other history book, yet each made critical choices that led to extraordinary results.

Meetings will be held Mondays, at 6:30 p.m., beginning Feb. 6. The group will then meet for the next 12 weeks

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Sunday school and Confirmation classes will meet at 10:30 a.m.

Activities for next week include: Thursday, Angel Choir rehearsal at 6 p.m., Shepherd Choir meets at 6:30 p.m., Chancel/Adult Choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m.

St. John UCC

The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship. Sunday school classes for all ages will be held at 11 a.m.

The weekly radio program will be aired on WLSH - AM1410, at 11:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at noon.

The consistory will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Choir rehearsals are held Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.

Calvary UM

The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, a praise, worship and Bible study session will be held at 4:30 p.m., followed by a Super Bowl party. To register, or for more information, call (570) 668-4459.

Wednesday prayer and praise services are held at 7 p.m. in the church.
