Two persons hurt in Towamensing

Published December 26. 2012 05:02PM

Two persons, including a 3-year-old boy, were injured in a one-vehicle crash at 1:30 a.m., Dec. 25 on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said the driver, Limara J. Romansky, 30, of Kresgeville, and the three-year-old sustained injuries of unknown severity. A second passenger, a 5-year-old boy, was uninjured. Police said the child safety seats were used on both children.

Police said Romansky was driving a 2004 Ford Expedition southbound on Interchange Road (State Route 209) during adverse weather conditions and was traveling too fast for conditions. The vehicle went into a slide on the roadway, which caused the operator to be unable to control it as it traveled off the west shoulder of the road. The vehicle struck a tree with its passenger's side, continued to slide sideways striking a utility pole and rolled over onto its driver's side.

Police said the victims were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, via the Palmerton ambulance.

The driver will be cited for causing the accident.
