Weatherly woman is millionth visitor to Christkindlmarkt

BETHLEHEM - Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem, the holiday festival celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, welcomed the one-millionth visitor in its history when Autumn Gilbert entered the event.
Gilbert, a resident of Weatherly, was attending the event for the very first time.
In recognition of the special occasion, Gilbert will receive four Christkindlmarkt season passes for life.
Officials for ArtsQuest, the nonprofit that presents Christkindlmarkt, also presented her with a $100 ArtsQuest Gift Card, four passes to see the Bethlehem: The Christmas City film at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, plus additional holiday and Christkidlmarkt gifts.
In addition, Gilbert was given a handcrafted, hand-painted snowman figurine from Rich Connolly of Rich Connolly Folk Art and a jewelry gift basket including earrings by Michelle Andrychuk, owner of the local Fifth Avenue Collection franchise, two of the vendors at the event.
Named one of the top holiday markets in the world by Travel + Leisure, Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem features aisles of handmade works by 125 of the nation's finest artisans; live holiday music; demonstrating artists; jolly, old St. Nicholas and more.
The event, which takes place at PNC Plaza at SteelStacks, 645 E. First St., Bethlehem, began Nov. 15 and runs through Dec. 23.
