New Tripoli man threatens suicide

State police at the Fogelsville barracks were summoned Nov. 18 at 3:06 p.m. to investigate an attempted suicide in Lower Milford Township.

Police said a 31-year-old male from new Tripoli is the victim. He attempted to jump off a bridge.

Police said he accessed Interstate 78 westbound by way of State Route 309 via foot and scaled the northern concrete barrier, remaining atop it and contemplating jumping onto Route 309 for the purpose of committing suicide.

Police said he was safely talked down off the ledge and transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where he underwent a mental health evaluation.
