Eldred Township approves 2013 budget with no increase in taxes

Published December 21. 2012 05:04PM

On Dec. 19, in a 3-0 vote, Eldred Township supervisors approved the 2013 General Fund Budget at $659,658 and the 2013 State Fund Budget at $137,745.54, with no increase in taxes.

Sharon Solt, Eldred Twp. supervisor/secretary, said the budget is based on projected income.

Clair Borger, Eldred Twp. supervisor chairman and roadmaster, said the township was able to do that because, "Unlike the Federal government, we made a few cuts."

Those cuts were seen mostly in highway maintenance. Borger doesn't believe that will have any effect on the quality of the township's road maintenance.

"Right now I would put our highways up against anyone else's in the county as the best."

The board also approved, 3-0, Resolution 2012-7, appointing Kirk Summa & Co., LLP, certified public accountants, to make an examination of all the accounts of the Township for the fiscal year 2012, of compensation not to exceed $4,750. It also resolves that "pursuant to 53 P.S. 65917(c) the Board of Auditors of Eldred Township shall not audit, settle or adjust the accounts of Eldred Township audited by Kirk Summa & Co. LLP for the fiscal year 2012."

The township building will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25.

The reorganization meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the township building.

There will be a Mock Park planning meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. at the township building.
