Driver is unhurt when car hits deer

Anthony J. Mizic, 26, of Mahanoy City, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 20 on the Burma Road in Blythe Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks said he was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta southbound when it struck a deer that was attempting to cross the roadway from the west berm.

After the initial impact, the vehicle exited the west berm and struck a tree.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
