Panther Valley news
The Dec. 11 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America. The hospitality committee for January and February are Ruth Ann Feane, Norma Lee Burke and Grace Moser.
The next meeting will be held on Jan. 14 at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church, beginning at 1 p.m. New officers will be installed and if there is enough interest, Bingo will be played.
St. John Lutheran
Wednesday Holden Evening Prayer Service with Holy Communion at St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will begin at 7 p.m.
For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief Bible study at 6:30. For more information, or if the weather is questionable, call the Rev. Marjorie Keiter, (570) 273-4038.
Service will not be held if school is canceled or dismissed early due to bad weather on Wednesdays.
St John's Blue Christmas service
St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold a Blue Christmas service on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.
The Blue Christmas service is intended for individuals who are "feeling blue" and having a difficult time feeling cheerful during the holiday season for one reason or the other.
Anyone who is dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or some other disease that make holiday parties and joviality painful is encouraged to attend. The quiet, worship service is a time for reflection and to find healing and hope and will include special music, scripture readings, healing prayer and Holy Communion.
All are invited.
St. Paul's Lutheran
St. Paul's Lutheran Church Sunday school, 123 W. White St., Summit Hill, will have dress rehearsal for its play on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 9 a.m. The party will immediately follow.
The children's play will be during the worship service on Sunday, Dec. 23, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
