A 61-year-old man was found after a five-hour search in the woods and mountains north of Coaldale.

Just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Coaldale police, firefighters and special search teams were called to search the mountains north of St. Luke's Miners Hospital for a man who ran out of the hospital after being admitted for mental reasons.

Coaldale police said weather prevented helicopters from assisting in the search. The man was eventually discovered in Walker Township about five hours later.

Police Officer Scott Cramer expressed his appreciation to surrounding police departments, state police, Coaldale Fire Company and both the Valley and Northeast Search and Rescue teams.

No more information was available from police as of press time.
