16-year-old is hurt in Union crash

A 16-year-old boy from Frackville suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 8;32 p.m. dec. 16 on Township Route 4032 in Union Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Frackville barracks said the boy was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus east on the road at a time when the roadway was wet and dense fog was in the area. Police said he failed to begotiate a curve in the roadway causing the Taurus to leave the road and strike a tree.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Polcie said the boy was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center East, Pottsville, for treatment of the minor injuries.

he is expected to receive traffic citations as a result of the crash.

Police said three other passengers in the vehicle, all juveniles, were taken to area hospitals via private vehicles for treatment of minor injuries.
