Published December 15. 2012 09:02AM

A Cumberland County man was jailed late Thursday, Dec. 13, in Schuylkill County for driving under the influence (DUI) and simple assault.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident began as an assault about 10:30 pm. in the parking lot of the Weis Market in Norwegian Township, and ended in the Walmart store parking lot in Saint Clair.

Troopers said Alan Theodore Dick, 41, of New Cumberland, assaulted a 33-year-old female from Duncannon, Perry County in the Weis lot. After the altercation Dick and the female got into a tractor-trailer truck and drove to the Walmart lot where state police arrived.

Upon making contact with Dick and the female, troopers placed Dick under arrest for the assault and DUI. The female was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for evaluation of facial injuries.

Dick was arraigned by on-call District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $25,000 straight cash bail.
