Slatington tree lighting will be held on Friday

Published December 06. 2012 05:02PM

On a cold December night, perhaps nothing soothes the soul quite like a cup of hot chocolate.

Except for maybe the sight of a beautifully lit tree, the sound of caroling, and a visit from Jolly Old Saint Nick himself.

All that and more awaits visitors who attend the Slatington Tree Lighting and Photos with Santa at 7 p.m. Friday in Slatington.

Sponsored by the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce, the event will be held at the Slatington Memorial Park, 509 Main Street, at the site of the old Slatington high school, across from Slatington Baptist Church.

There will be hot chocolate and cookies while listening to caroling led by the Northern Lehigh Freedom Chorus.

Prior to the lighting of the tree, Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck for photos with the kids.

In addition, the GNLCC will collect unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots program.

Those who attend are urged to bring an unwrapped toy that will benefit a Lehigh Valley child.

Join the GNLCC for an evening of socializing, and to celebrate the holiday season as a community with friends, family and fellow Chamber members.
