A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one-vehicle crash in which the driver and passenger were injured.

State police at Frackville said Amanda Marie Mason, 23, of Pottsville, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on Tumbling Run Road, in Blythe Township, about 4:14 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, when she failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the road.

The car went onto the south berm and struck a tree with the front passenger side.

After impact the car continued back onto the road where it rolled over onto its roof.

The car came to rest blocking both lanes of travel, on its roof, and facing south.

Mason and her passenger, Lyndsey Taylor Stevenosky, 21, of Minersville, were both taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson Street, Pottsville, for treatment of lacerations and observation, troopers said. Damages to the car were disabling.

Mason was suspected of being under the influence and submitted to a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers added.
