Philadelphia driver facing charges
A Philadelphia driver is facing several charges following an incident that began in Carbon County and ended in Lehigh County.
State police at Lehighton said a vehicle was observed traveling southbound on the turnpike erratically in Kidder Township. Troopers attempted a traffic stop by activating their emergency lights and siren.
The driver failed to stop and fled. The pursuit continued for about 42 miles and ended along SR22 eastbound at the Cedar Crest Blvd. on-ramp, in Lehigh County, where the vehicle was disabled by two state police cruisers.
The driver was identified as Mailk Antwyan Hodges, 23. He was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence (DUI), fleeing and eluding (a felony), drug possession, and numerous motor vehicle code violations. It was also learned that Hodges has an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued out of Philadelphia.
Hodges was arraigned by a district judge and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning, in lieu of $40,000 straight cash bail.
