Driver hurt in Mahoning crash

Mahoning Township police are investigating an accident Tuesday evening which closed down SR902 for a period of time. The crash occurred at 7 p.m. when a male motorist was traveling south and apparently lost control of his vehicle. The car swerved to the left crossing over the oncoming lanes entering the east berm where it impacted with and snapped off a utility pole. The pole carried power lines as well as other utility lines which were snapped off with the impact. A PPL transformer lay along the berm of the roadway. The driver of the car was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance and Lehighton paramedics and transported to an area medical facility. Responding was the Mahoning Valley Fire Company. Mahoning Valley fire police maintained traffic control at the scene and rerouted traffic.
