Friends and family of Regen thor Straten of Andreas organized a multi-event benefit Sunday to help Straten with medical bills and his family's transportation costs following a recent brain injury he suffered after falling down a flight of steps.

He has since been moved to a rehabilitation facility in Plymouth Meeting.

In addition to a number of other organizations, Straten has been a paramedic with Lehighton Ambulance Association for many years and also runs on the Hot Team for Pocono Raceway. He is also the father to Christian, 4, and was engaged to be married to Cassie Fritzinger early next year.

The benefit included a Chinese auction, luncheon, entertainment and 96-mile motorcycle ride, which started at the West End Fire Company in Palmerton and ended at the West Penn Fire Company, stopping at the Nesquehoning Fire Company and Pocono Mountain Leather on the way.

For more information, visit the Caring4Regen's Facebook page or contact Tammy Fritzinger at (570) 578-9908. Family members stated the event was a great turnout. They added their appreciation to the EMS community for organizing the event. They added that any donation could be dropped off at any Wells Fargo branch under "Caring 4 Regen".
