Published August 27. 2012 05:02PM

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a three-vehicle crash about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, along SR903 at Maurey Road, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Denise Smith, of Lehighton, was driving a 2010 Kia Forte eastbound in front of a 2007 Ford Escape driven by Richard Teates, of Jim Thorpe. Troopers said the Kia was struck by the Ford as Smith was attempting a left hand turn into a parking area. After impact the Kia left the road, re-entered the westbound lane and struck a 2007 Mercury Milan operated by Meredith Brisbane, of Jim Thorpe.

The three drivers and a passenger with Smith, Todd Smith of Lehighton, were not injured. Troopers indicated a factor in the crash was that Teates was following too closely.
