Published August 27. 2012 05:03PM

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported that Kevin Smith, of Harrisburg, was video arraigned at the Schuylkill County prison on Friday by District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg.

His bail was set at $500,000 straight cash.

Police noted that on June 6, 2012, Smith allegedly walked into Miners Bank in Tremont and although he did not display a weapon, demanded money from the tellers. After the suspect obtained cash, he exited the bank and proceeded on foot before getting into a dark colored car that was operated by an unknown person.

On Aug. 24 an arrest warrant was executed on Smith in Dauphin County by state police. Smith voluntarily waived his right to an arraignment in Dauphin County.

Smith is also facing additional charges from the Halifax bank robbery in Tower City from this past June.

The investigation is continuing in the Tower City bank robbery.
