A Lehighton woman is facing charges for bringing contraband into the county prison in Nesquehoning.

Borough Police Chief Sean Smith and Officer Thomas Kurtz received information from personnel at the prison on Aug. 5 that when Kristin N. Eschbach, 30, of 212 N. Seventh St., was brought to the prison marijuana was found in her purse.

Police said Eschbach was brought to the jail by Lehighton police on unrelated charges. During a search of her personal property, prison personnel found suspected marijuana in her purse.

She denied knowledge of the marijuana when questioned by Kurtz. Kurtz also tested the matter, which was positive for the illegal substance.

As a result she was charged with one count each of possession of controlled substance/contraband, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford, with bail set at $1,000 unsecured.
