Two Dauphin County men were nabbed a short time after police say they robbed a Schuylkill County bank.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Darrell D. Dixon, 28, and Juan Ricardo Cooke II, 32, both of Harrisburg, have been charged with robbing the Minersville Bank branch office in Tremont, and then leading troopers on a high speed chase on Interstate 81 that ended when they crashed their vehicle.

Troopers said the incident began about 9:22 a.m. when a male entered the bank and robbed it. He was observed fleeing in a silver in color minivan. A description of the van was broadcast to all area police.

The van was located traveling southbound on I81 when troopers attempted a traffic stop. The van sped away at a high rate of speed continuing south. It crashed into the median near the Schuylkill County line.

Dixon and Cooke were found in the van and taken to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment of injuries. After treatment they were taken into custody and charged with robbery and related counts.

The two were arraigned before on-call District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $1,000,000 cash bail each.
