Mushroom ID class to be held

Published August 24. 2012 05:02PM

The Carbon County Enviromental Education Center (EEC) is planning its fall mushroom identification class. Sessions will be held at the EEC on four evenings.

Participants may attend one or all of the sessions, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 4, and Mondays, Sept. 10, 17, and 24. Each class runs from 6 to 8 p.m.

Participants are asked to bring along any mushrooms they would like to have identified. Local expert Joe Lankalis will comment on each specimen. Mushrooms collected before the class should be refrigerated in a brown paper bag, in order to stay fresh long enough for identification.

The program is open to all ages. For directions, more information, or to register, call the EEC at (570)-645-8597. The program is free to EEC members. A $5 donation is requested of non-members for each session they attend.
