Two charged by Mahoning police
Mahoning Township police reported on two arrests.
On August 16, Lorene Rice, of Palmerton, was arraigned on an outstanding arrest warrant before District Judge Edward Lewis, of Jim Thorpe, on charges of retail theft, false identification to law enforcement, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges stem from a theft that occurred in 2010 at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township.
On August 17, Trevor Wentz, of 76 Mahoning Drive East, Lehighton, was arraigned by District Judge Joseph Homanko, of Weatherly, on charges of simple assault and harassment.
Wentz reportedly assaulted his girlfriend while at his residence. Wentz was on state parole at the time of the incident.
After arraignment, Wentz was committed to the Carbon County Prison in lieu of $1,500 bail.
