Penn Forest confrontation closes Route 903

State Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, was closed for nearly four hours Sunday morning when a man allegedly stated he had a gun and a hand grenade, and parked his pickup truck across the busy roadway. The incident began shortly after 6 a.m. when police were notified of the incident. Within minutes state troopers for the Lehighton and Fern Ridge barracks arrived on scene closing down the roadway and setting up a perimeter around the truck. At times the man, who was later identified as Donald Brozoski, of Blakeslee, appeared agitated, talking and gesturing with his hands and blowing the horn on his pickup truck. Troopers also said he was throwing several objects from the truck. The incident occurred about a half mile north of the intersection with Church Road near the Dom & Ali Restaurant. The standoff ended just before 9 a.m. with Brozoski being transported to a local hospital suffering a neck injury. State police at Lehighton charged Brozoski with terroristic threats/serious inconvenience, disorderly conduct/obscene, disorderly conduct/hazardous conditions, obstructing highways and other public passages, propulsion of missiles into an occupied vehicle or onto a roadway, and threat to use weapons of mass destruction. He is also facing several summary motor vehicle code violations.
