Church opens Thankful Thrift store

Low on cash but in need of clothes, toys, furniture or other things? Thankful Thrift, an outreach of Grace Community Church, has opened at 24 W. Ridge St., Lansford.

The large store, housed in a former 5&10, has all kinds of housewares, a large selection of children's clothing, electronics, and books.In the back, youth groups, and the New Beginnings support groups for men and women struggling with addictions meet. The women's group, led by Bonnie Wright, meets from 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays; the men's group, led by John Wagstaff, meets from 8:45-9:45 p.m. Wednesdays.On Friday, the church celebrated Thankful Thrift's grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by borough Councilwoman Samantha Yasson; Sara Ruch, Community Projects Manager for the Lansford-Summit Hill Community Partnership; state Rep. Doyle Heffley; and Sen. John Yudichak's aide, Bill Richardson.The thrift shop can be reached through Grace Community Church at (570) 645-2212, or at
