Man found dead on Beltzville Lake
LARRY NEFF/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS Rescue units converge at Beltzville State Park where a 25-year-old man was found dead in his boat Wednesday.
A Carbon County man died in an apparent drowning incident at Beltzville State Park on Wednesday. He was the third person to die in the waters of the county in a four-day period.
Carbon County Coroner Bruce Nalesnik identified the victim as William K. Andrews III, 25, of 105 Barbara Ave., Lehighton, Towamensing Township.
Nalesnik said Andrews appears to have been fishing in a small fishing boat when found. Nalesnik states there has not been a determination on the cause of death. He said an autopsy was scheduled for today which will include toxicology tests.
Reportedly, Andrews was leaning over the side of the boat with his head submerged in the water when found. He was discovered by passing boaters in a cove to the west of Preachers Camp boat launch area.
Beltzville State Park Rangers and state police from Lehighton are assisting in the investigation. Responding to the scene were divers of the Lehighton Fire Department, Trachsville Fire Company. Palmerton ambulance and Lehighton paramedics.
