Last minute transfers before PVSD begins new year

There was a short Pleasant Valley School District board of directors meeting on Aug. 9 with school directors Harvey Frable and James Spinola absent.

The board approved 7-0 to appoint Dr. Karin-Susan Breitlauch and Mrs. Jacqueline Mock as Western Pocono Community Library board members for three-year terms to expire in October 2015.

It also approved, 7-0 the School Resource Officer Agreement between PVSD and the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) for 2012-2013 and the Memorandum of Understanding between PSP and PVSD for 2012-2013 year.

The board voted 7-0 to approve the Memorandums of Understanding between the Pleasant Valley School District and the Pleasant Valley Educational Support Professionals' Association, ESPA, PSEA, NEA concerning:

*Tricia Altemose as bookkeeper (reassigned from administrative secretary) and Dorothy Baclawski as administrative secretary

The board approved 7-0:

*to hire Karina Loffio as a paraprofessional associate substitute

*to transfer Deborah Daly, healthroom technician from Chestnuthill to PVHS/PVMS/PVE; Jacqueline Dumas, custodian from PVHS to PO; Robert Pini, custodian from PO to PVHS

The board approved 7-0 the following for PVHS summer school at a stipend of $1,637.50 per full credit 30 hour session at two full credit sessions: Talitha Graham, science; Shavonne Liddic, mathematics; Danielle Unger, English.

The board approved the following for the 2012-2013 school year:

*hiring Lisa Lienhard, replacement school nurse position for Joanne Keglovits at $40,900

*hiring Erik Everett, new, part-time level II (53 percent) technology education position, $40,900, prorated

* Mark Allison's request to remove his name from the substitute list as of June 25, 2012

*transferring Laura Mason-Caiazzo from PVE health and physical education teacher to PVHS health and physical education teacher and John Gesiskie from PVMS In-School suspension to PVE health and education teacher

*the resignation of Augie Griffith, events manager, effective Aug. 2, 2012

*the resignation of Mike Dragotta as assistant varsity boy's soccer coach to volunteer boys' soccer team coach, 2012-2013 year

*the resignation of Ashley Kozicki as assistant junior varsity boys' soccer coach to the varsity boys' soccer coach, 2012-2013 school year

*contract of a memorandum of understanding between Monroe County Conservation District/Monroe County Environmental Education Center and PVSD for 2012-2013 school year for Winter Bird Feeding for kindergarten students at $3 per student and Plants & Weather for first grade at $110 per class

*a contract with Behavorial Health Associates and PVSD for education services for 2012-2013 at no increase from last year at a cost of: $89/day regular education; $125/day special education; $35/evaluation; $200/day intensive social skill training; $62.50/day career employment program; $25/day Ebridge Academy online education; $30/hour one on one instructional assistant; $65/hour interpreter for deaf/hearing impaired; $60/hour interpreter of Spanish; $175/psychiatric evaluation; $175/psychological evaluation; $50/half days, $75/full days STAR summer program; $27/hour STAP summer therapeutic activities program; $30/trip plus $.50/mile specialized transportation

*a contract with Heartland Payment Systems for terms of three years with automatic 12 month renewal, subject to 90 day notice of termination before the end of any 12 month term

*a contract with Graham Academy at a cost of $108/day for SED classroom instruction. Itinerant services $99.96 per hour. One on one staff at the rate of $600 per week. Classroom and related services for student. Effective Aug. 27, 2012-June 30, 2013.

*to advertise for sealed bids for snow removal
