Schuylkill driver injured in crash

A Schuylkill County driver was injured when his pickup truck and a tractor trailer rig collided on a county road. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred about 2:55 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, along SR443 at the entrance to the Gooseberry Farms, Pilot Truck Stop, in Pine Grove Township.

Troopers said George Williams, 56, of New Castle, Del., was operating a 2010 Freightliner Cascada with trailer and pulling out of the truck stop and attempted to go east on 443.

Larry Nagle, 57, of Tremont, driving a Ford F250 truck with an attached utility trailer, was westbound and unable to stop when the rig pulled out. The front of the Ford hit the back left side of the trailer. After impact the Ford traveled southwest and the utility tailer becoming dislodged.

The Ford came to rest on top of the utility trailer in the westbound lane facing southwest. After impact Williams was able to pull his rig to the side of the road.

Nagle was injured and flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Williams was not injured. Troopers noted neither driver were wearing a seat belt.
