Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. held its annual picnic on July 24 at St. Peter's Church Grove.

President Eleanor Schmerfeld provided the invocation.

The meal was catered by Christy Joy and was followed by an afternoon of social games and a Chinese Auction.

The group meets at the Ryan Township Fire Company on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.

Anyone 50 or older is welcome to join.

Class of 1955

The Tamaqua High School Class of 1955 is planning a reunion picnic for Sept. 8.

Any interested class members may call Mary at (570) 668-3008 for more information.

St. John's Lutheran

The Reverend Phyllis J. Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 E. Mauch Chunk St.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, congregational council will meet at 7 p.m.; Thursday, Messenger assembly at 1 p.m.

First Methodist

The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church.

The service will include special music provided by the Hometown Saxophone Quartet and a children's message offered by Marge Kropp.

The quilters will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. New members are always welcome.

The summer movie series will continue on Aug. 26 with the presentation of the film "Seven Days in Utopia."

The film will be shown at 7 p.m.

There is no admission fee and refreshments will be served.

The public is welcome to attend.

Trinity UCC

The Rev. Thomas Reinsel will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ.

The consistory will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Next Sunday's service will include a Joyous Noise Offering.

Zion Lewistown

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a children's message.

Sunday school will meet at 9:30 a.m.

Zion's is hosting a blood drive in honor of Harold "H.T." Fryer, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Sunday in the social hall.
