Lehigh police report on activities

Lehigh Township police in Northampton County reported on the following enforcement activities:

A roving DUI patrol was conducted on July 28. Also participating were officers from Bushkill and Plainfield townships, and the boroughs of Tatamy, Nazareth, Stockertown, and Walnutport, and Colonial Regional.

Officers contacted 58 vehicles and arrested four drivers for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI); with 19 traffic citations issued, and 38 warnings handed out.

A sobriety checkpoint was conducted on Aug. 3. Participating with Lehigh were Bushkill, Moore and Upper Nazareth townships, Walnutport, and Colonial Regional. A total of 848 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and officers arrested one for DUI-drug related, five for DUI-alcohol related; with 18 traffic citations issued, and five warnings handed out.

A roving patrol was conducted on Aug. 4 by officers from Walnutport, Moore and Bushkill townships, and Colonial Regional. There were 10 traffic citations issued, and 24 warnings handed out.

Lehigh officers will be conducting DUI enforcement programs, including sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols for the remainder of August.
