Free canning event set in Brodheadsville
Looking for some answers on how to can or freeze foods safely? Penn State Master Food Preservers will be hosting a free Canning Q&A session at the Tractor Supply store on Route 209 in Brodheadsville on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The session will provide information on up-to-date methods, how long you can store foods, processing times, or whether your canner is operating properly. Preserving foods accurately will help prevent food related illnesses. Bring your dial gauge pressure canner lid to be tested for accuracy. This gauge check should be done annually, and will be done while you wait. It is only necessary to bring the lid with dial.
No pre-registration is required.
