Heritage Hill Senior Community, 800 Sixth St., Weatherly, will host a special event, "Become an Alzheimer's Whisperer," presented by Dr. Verna Benner Carson, from 2-4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20.

Carson is a nationally recognized leader in the care of the Alzheimer's patient, having written eight books and 80 articles on the subject.She will discuss her books and help guide family caregivers of individuals affected by Alzheimer's to find ways to calm the fears of the person and to enter their world to heal their broken spirit.Seating is limited so reserve a seat by calling Lisa Marie or Janice at (570) 427-4500 by Sept. 10.
