Rush Township police were dispatched to Quakake just before 9 p.m. yesterday for a report of a man being struck by a vehicle.

Township Police Sgt. Duane Frederick said that 33 year old Keith S. Mcfarland Jr. of Tamaqua was standing along Jones Street when he was allegedly struck by a dark colored vehicle traveling east. A Medevac helicopter landed at Marian Catholic High School's baseball field to transport McFarland to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for unknown injuries.

Police departments from Tamaqua, McAdoo and surrounding areas were seen pulling over vehicles matching the description. Also responding were Ryan Township Rescue Squad/Ambulance, Hazleton APTS, Hometown Fire Company and fire police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the ownship police at (570) 668-4242. Frederick pointed out that there may be damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.
