School uniform clothing drive

Published August 06. 2012 05:03PM

Sunday, Aug. 12 is the deadline for area residents to contribute to a community-wide effort to collect gently used Tamaqua Area school uniforms, backpacks and school supplies for the 2012-2013 school year. Because of the current economic difficulties, the project's goal is to ease the burden of having area children properly dressed for school.

There will be no charge. Available items will be distributed on Aug. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Items can be dropped off at the church during normal business hours. (Monday and Wednesday noon to 5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

The project is a joint effort of all Tamaqua area congregations. If you have any questions or wish to help with the project, please contact Rochelle Evanousky at (570) 467-3042.
