Break-in, theft incidents probed

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a burglary and theft incidents.

The break-in occurred at the home of Christine Mertz, 39, of Heiney Lane, Polk Township, Monroe County. Entry was made by removing an air conditioning unit from a window. Taken was a jar containing spare change, troopers said. The incident occurred sometime between noon and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4.

Troopers said two Mitsubishi ductless air conditioning units were removed from a residence at 3335 Shady Oaks Drive, in West Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County, sometime between May 5 and Aug. 2. The home is currently in foreclosure proceedings and owned by Citimortgage, of O'Fallon, Ohio. The value of the units is $4,000.

Troopers said someone removed copper wire from a Verizon wireless cell tower site located off SR903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. The theft occurred sometime between July 11 and Aug. 1.

Troopers said someone stole copper pipe from underneath a home at 4730 Queens Way, Robinhood Lakes development in Polk Township, sometime between June 1 and Aug. 4. The home is owned by Wayne M. Dundon, 50, of Kintnersville, Bucks County.
