Palmerton Food Mart robbed

Palmerton police are investigating the armed robbery of the Convenient Food Mart at 643 Delaware Avenue early Thursday morning. Two men approached the business at 2:20 a.m. One stood in the parking lot as the second suspect, a white male, about 6-foot to 6-foot-2, 200-220 pounds, skinny build, wearing a black sweat shirt over a white hoodie with Adidas on the shirt in white or gray lettering, blue jeans, white sneakers, with a dark blue or black bandanna over his face, entered the store and brandished a black folding knife with a black handle and black blade. He then pulled the knife and demanded money from the clerk. No one was injured. The two ran from the store in an easterly direction possibly to a waiting car. Police from Palmerton, Lehighton, Mahoning and Franklin townships converged on the scene as well as state troopers. The duo is believed to have made off with about $767.
