Panther Valley news
The Panther Valley Golden Agers will meet on Monday, April 30 at St. Joseph's Social Hall, Summit Hill at 1 p.m.
The Annual Memorial Mass will be held May 14 at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend. Members interested in attending are asked to sign up at any meeting prior to the Mass.
A meeting will follow the Mass in the social hall. Members of the chorus are asked to practice before the Liturgy.
The Class of 1962 of the former Summit Hill High School would like to extend an invitation to anyone who attended the school to join the class members for their 50-year reunion. The event is planned for Saturday, May 26, at the Parkview Inn, Summit Hill.

St. Joseph Church
The choir of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will rehearse on Thursday, May 3, at 7 p.m. in the church. Robert Ames, director, will be in charge of the rehearsal which is being held to prepare for the First Communion Mass to be held on Sunday, May 6.
Shade Tree plans
The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission continues its biannual tree plantings in the spring and fall in the parks and streets of the borough.
The Spring Arbor Day plantings and ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 28, at 9 a.m. and will consist of memorial and honorary trees.
Those who will be memorialized during this year's program include noted late historians Joseph Arner, Joe "Buck" O'Donnell and Joseph McDermott.

St. Paul Lutheran
The Rev. Richard L. Hinkle, a retired pastor from Weatherly, will be the guest minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, April 29. He will preside at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.
Bishop to officiate
The Most Rev. John O. Barres, Bishop of Allentown, will be the celebrant of a Mass on Sunday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford.
Volunteers on planting days, tree sponsors and monetary donations are always accepted by the commission.
Youths from St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will receive the sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 6, during a Mass at 10 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth Medve, pastor, will be the celebrant.
St. John Lutheran
Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion.
All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer.
For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m, followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.

NCFC Ladies Auxiliary meeting
The next meeting of the New Columbus Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Tuesday, May 1 at 7 p.m. President Gerry McConnon will preside and the hospitality committee will be Nancy Candoneri and Lucy Purrano.
Community Dinner at Meed's
A free community dinner will be served at Meed's Church tonight from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Please note the new hours.
Community yard sale
The Coaldale Borough will hold its community yard sale on Saturday, May 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Every borough resident is invited to participate free of charge.
Residents should put items for sale in their yards by 8 a.m., Saturday, May 12, and provide their own tables if necessary. The scheduled rain date is May 19.
