Music is in the air at Palmerton Area Jr. and Sr. High School

The Palmerton Area School District invites you to come and let "Music Makes Your Mind Grow." That's the title of this year's junior and senior high schools' band and chorus concert. It will be held Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The Junior High Band will present J.S. Bach "Chorales," "Canon" by Thomas Tallis, featuring on the flute Mercy Melo, Mikayla Smale and Ashley Bird; "Simple Gifts," an Appalachian Folk Hymn; and the "1812 Overture" by Peter Tchaikovsky.
The Junior High Chorus will perform: "Frim Fram Sauce" by Evans and Ricardel; "I've Been Everywhere" by Geoff Mack, featuring Craig Peters and Madison Fierro; "Shine A Little Light" featuring Andy Beck, Vithusha Selvavelautham, Jacqueline Phillips, Caytlin Bloss; "True Colors" by Steinberg and Kelly, "Count On Me" by Bruno Mars featuring Wenda Dougherty, guitar, Caytlin Bloss, conga drums; and "Where is the Love?" by Ron Fair, Will. I. Am and J. Timberlake featuring Jaelyn Rehm, Wenda Dougherty, Madison Fierro, Caytlin Bloss and Felica Dana.
The Senior High Chorus will perform: "Now I Walk in Beauty" by John Colligan; "Ave Maria" by Franz Schubert featuring Rebekah Ahner; "The Lamb" by Lee Hoiby; "Movin' On" by Raymond Hannisian featuring Rebekah Ahner and Laurel Seemiller; "Shy" from "Once Upon a Mattress" by Barer and Rodgers featuring Monica Handwerk; "For Good" from "Wicked" by Stephen Schwartz; "Danny Boy" by Frederick Edward Weatherly; and "Lift Thine Eyes to the Mountains" from "Elijah" by Felix Mendelssohn.
The Senior High Concert Band will present: "Canticum" by Jame Curnow; "The Pink Panther" by Henry Mancini; "The Liberty Bell" by John Philip Sousa; "Jump, Jive an' Wail" by Louis Prima; "Knights of Destiny" by Michael Sweeney; "Eye of the Tiger" by Frank Sullivan and Jim Peterik; "God Bless America" by Irving Berlin; and "Lord of the Dance" by Ronan Hardiman.
In a stirring finale, the combined groups will present "An American Celebration" arranged by Carl Strommen.
