Nearly 100 children enjoyed a great day of fishing at the fishing derby sponsored by the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club held Saturday at Durigan's Pond in Mahoning Valley.

Children and grandchildren of members ages up 16 years old were invited to fish and every child received a prize. There were also special prizes given away, including 10 bicycles, two in each age grouping and prizes for the first fish, biggest fish, second biggest fish, first to catch limit, second to catch limit and smallest fish. The biggest fish also gets mounted by Hill's Taxidermy for free.

Kerry Solt, club president, said that the event is held so that the children have a good time.

The club stocked the pond with 276 fish.

The fishing derby is an annual event.
