Unusual accident in Tamaqua

Published April 20. 2012 05:01PM

No one was injured in an unusual accident in Tamaqua on Saturday.

Eddy A. Peraita, 37, of 423 N. Oley St., Reading was traveling south of Railroad Street at approximately 6 p.m., towing a Ford Explorer with his 1999 Dodge pick up truck. Imagine his surprise when the Explorer began passing his pick up after the tow dolley broke. In an effort to avert injuries to pedestrians and other motorists, Peraita used his truck to push the Ford into a utility pole.

The accident also claimed a fire hydrant, which was discovered in the shrubs on the west side of Tommy's Italian Specialty Shop, 41 N. Railroad St. The hydrant was moved about three feet from its base.
