A Mahoning Township family is homeless after a fire severely damaged their home Wednesday afternoon along Dead End Lane just off Hemlock Drive. The fire was discovered by a mail carrier at 1:38 p.m. who saw smoke rolling from the eaves of the roof. A Mahoning Township police officer was first to arrive at the site and reported smoke coming from the one-story, single-family dwelling. Fire companies from at least six communities responded to the scene, utilizing tankers for their water supply. It appeared no one was home at the time of the blaze. Firefighters were on scene for five hours. No injuries were reported in the incident. Mahoning Township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
