When the Western Pocono Lioness Club was asked to take charge of the District 14U Lions Convention basket raffle for the day, the club obliged.
This past Saturday a quartet of Lioness, including Virginia Lamendola, Ruth Smith, Maryann Lalumia and Yvonne Pagano, made the trip to the Wilkes-Barre hotel where the convention was being held and spent the day taking care of receiving any baskets that were still coming in, collecting funds as needed, answering questions, and later presiding over the drawing and posting of winners for the over 30 baskets.
That is but one example of how the Lioness help serve others. In this case it was serving Lions District 14U.
Also representing the Lioness Club at the Convention was Lioness Rita Sweeney.
The club meets the last Tuesday of each month at the American Legion, on Route 209 in Gilbert. The club's next meeting will be Tuesday, April 24, beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. The business meeting will follow. The special guest speaker will be herbalist Lori Jacobs.
For more information one can call Lioness President Virginia at (610) 681-8306.
The club's next event will be a Holistic Fair on May 5 at the West End Fire Hall in Brodheadsville.
