Owl Creek dams closed to the public

Published April 17. 2012 05:01PM

Tamaqua's Upper and Lower Owl Creek Dams are closed to the public until further notice. The closure is due to the rehabilitation project that has begun at both dams.

The project includes building new spillways and outlet structures, as well as raising the height of the dams. The project could take up to ten months to complete.

Vehicles and pedestrians will be prohibited from the dams and the access roads. Motorists along Owl Creek Road should be alert for construction vehicles near both dam entrances.

The area will be reopened for public use as soon as possible after the work is completed.

For further information, call (570) 668-3444 or 668-0300.
