A Monroe County man is facing multiple counts, including attempted rape, following an incident that occurred on Friday, April 14, at 8714 Country Place Drive, in A Pocono Country Place, in Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township.

Pocono Mountain Regional police were dispatched to that address about 7:40 p.m. to a report of a naked male in the residence attempting to have sex with a 15-year-old female. The victim was able to flee the home and upon her return, she found the suspect in the home, still naked, and masturbating.As he was being removed from the home he struck another juvenile, a 17-year-old male, in the head and ran back in the home. Upon arrival of officers the suspect was taken into custody.He was identified as Shamale Stephens, 20, no address given. He was charged with felony counts of attempted rape, burglary, criminal trespass, criminal attempt-statutory sexual assault, criminal attempt-sexual assault, and unlawful contact with a minor; and misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors, indecent exposure, simple assault, open lewdness and criminal mischief.Stephens was arraigned before District Judge Brian Germano, of Marshalls Creek, and committed to the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of $10,000 straight cash bail.
