Hazleton area bank robbed

A Hazleton area bank was robbed by a lone white male on Monday.

State police at Hazleton said the male entered the PNC branch office, located along Susquehanna Blvd. (SR930), in Hazle Township, about 9:24 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money. No weapon was displayed and no injuries reported.The suspect then fled the bank traveling through a wooded area located to the rear of the bank. He then fled in a brown in color four-door sedan, which was parked along Providence Road. He was last seen traveling on SR309 south into Hazleton.The suspect is described as being about six feet tall, thin build, brown hair, wearing a white long-sleeve button down dress shirt and black dress pants.He partially concealed his face by wearing a white surgical mask and what appeared to be white gauze bandage material on his forehead. He was also wearing a blue bandana on top of his head, had white surgical gloves on and was carrying a black briefcase with a shoulder strap.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 459-3890.
