A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Wednesday, and later released, after being charged with robbing another county resident and threatening to shoot him.

State police at Schuylkill Haven identified the suspect as Nikolis Ben Chyat, 22, of Moonhill Road, in Schuylkill Haven. The victim was identified as Kyle Lombel, 20, also of Moonhill Road.

Troopers said the incident occurred between 1 and 4 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, in the area of Martins and Birdshill roads, in Washington Township.

Troopers said Chyat drove Lombel to the area and once there proceeded to pull Lombel from the car. He then repeatedly punched Lombel in the face.

While Chyat was assaulting the victim, Lombel felt a firearm on the defendant's person. After that Chyat told Lombel to walk away and as he did he was going to shoot him.

Chyat then took off Lombel's shoes and took his backpack, which contained about $650 worth of personal belongings. Chyat then left the scene leaving Lombel behind.

On Wednesday troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Chyat charging him with multiple offenses including robbery and terroristic threats. He was arraigned before District Judge Carol Pankake, of Tremont, and committed to the county prison in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. Reportedly, Chyat posted the bail later in the day and was released.
